Jersey Designs
Team jerseys during the second season of the Overwatch League had a specific standardized design. The home and away jerseys are designed to fit this.
Most teams had an alternate 3rd kit jersey introduced halfway through the season that allowed for more freedom. 3rd kit designs specifically allowed for experimentation with colors and general design elements, while keeping the same layout for text and logos. I wanted to pay homage the the Chicago Flag and utilize design elements from that, such as the bright red color and the 4 stars above the number on the front.
Team Character Skins
Every team in the Overwatch League has specific in-game skins for both home and away games to make it easier for viewers to follow the action.
My approach for these skins was to follow the branding of other Overwatch League teams for a seamless fit. Utilizing both blue and gray for the home jerseys, and then the classic away white with only our blue and very few gray elements.
Action Cards
Actions cards are used in traditional sports, most noticeably American Football, to emphasis when massive plays happen.
Prior to my work with the Florida Mayhem in 2020, to my knowledge they have never been implemented for esports teams. These action cards for the Chicago Eclipse were the predecessor to that, allowing me to experiment with concepts and theorize how these would work in a different environment.
